The community or the fund manager can decide which levels of decentralization it wants.
The more decentralization, the more secure but less features the bot will have.
Ideally you want to invest in funds where the manager with reputable track record.
The bot itself also has manager access but this access can be revoked if needed and a web interface can be used to manage the fund instead.
On the highest level of decentralization the fund contract can be delegated to a DAO (using Snapshot or similar).
Funds cannot be withdrawn after an investment is done, this is done in order to avoid market manipulation and also helps to simplify tokenomics of each fund token.
Investors can recover their investment:
1. By holding the token when the fund managers distribute profits.
2. By selling their fund tokens in the open market (i.e. Uniswap). Read here how this works and how the token price pegs to the fund TVL, maintaining a fair price.
A fund token contract has 3 functionalities built-in:
1. Token: an ERC-20 that can collect taxes and use snapshots to do governance.
2. Vault: Holding liquid assets (ETH+WETH) and illiquid assets (other ERC20 tokens, aka investments).
3. Distributor: based on holding snapshots, fund managers can distribute profits the fund makes to the investors holding the token.
A fund manager can decide to deploy a fund token, customizing its basic ERC20 features such as name and symbol.
On deployment it must provide WETH into it in order to give it initial value. It will receive 100 initial tokens. After deployment of a fund token, community investors can contribute to a fund by simply sending ETH to it.
New tokens will be minted based on their contributions.
Example (fund taxes have been omitted to simplify calculations):
A fund manager releases a new fund token called $BOBIt provides 1 WETH to it as initial liquidity, the deployment grants him 100 tokens.
The initial TVL is 1 WETH.A new investor decides to contribute into the fund, adds another 1 WETH, which will also grant him 100 tokens.
The fund now has a TVL of 2 WETH and a total supply of 200 tokens.
(1 $BOB = 0.01 WETH)
The fund decides to invest 0.5 WETH into a token $X which pumps 4x, adding 2 WETH to its TLV.
The fund now has a TVL of 4 WETH and still a total supply of 200 tokens.
(1 $BOB = 0.02 WETH)
A new investor FOMOes into the amazing $BOB fund and decides to contribute 1 WETH.
This time at a TVL of 4 WETH he only receives 50 $BOB tokens, as he contributed 1 WETH and the fund now has a post-money TVL of 5 WETH (he owns 20% of fund).
